Krysta Coleman thumbnailWhen I graduated from Lawrence Tech in 2012, I often thought that it would be so rewarding to come back one day to work amongst the faculty and staff who had so much of an impact on my life during my four years here. One graduate degree, two, jobs, and five years later, I found myself back on campus much sooner than I had expected as the new Director of Alumni Relations.

Being back at LTU has been invigorating and inspiring as the University is undergoing another tremendous transformation. From the revitalization of athletics, including the return of football, to the addition of new buildings, and the development of even more unique opportunities for students through the expansion of majors and programs it is an exciting time to be on campus.

In addition to programs and services for current students, the University is continuing to offer many of its already existing alumni services including support from the Office of Career Services, University library access, and discounted access to Ridler Fieldhouse facilities as well as discounts on travel planning, home and car insurance, and more! Additionally, we’re offering new event programming for alumni of all majors, backgrounds, and interests. In 2017, we have reconnected with 300+ alumni at events like Fowling with our new Football coach, Jeff Duvendeck, a Wine & Cheese and storytelling event featuring Professor Corinne Stavish, and family events like Santa Brunch. We have a full slate of events coming up; you can always find a full listing at ltu.edu/alumni.

But that’s not all! Plans are already underway for an exciting new project: The Alumni House. Through repurposing an existing space on campus we will develop a space that will become a “go-to” place for alumni events and resources through which all of our alumni can reconnect with one another as well as with the University. We hope to have alumni involved in all aspects of the project: from remodeling and renovation to the opening of the house for its very first event.

With such lofty goals, we have a lot of work on our hands. And because we don’t require membership dues, the LTU Alumni Association relies on the generosity of its members to sustain current programming and to develop new and exciting programs and spaces for our alumni. I hope you will consider joining me in making a gift to the LTU Alumni Association to help us do just that. Your donation will enable our alma mater’s continued efforts to provide you with more opportunities to connect with the University, current students, and your fellow Blue Devils. I look forward to your support this year and to seeing you at an upcoming event very soon!
