2018-2019 Adjunct Instructor Pool for Information Technology

The IT program of the College of Business and Information Technology (CoBIT) at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) is accepting resumes on an ongoing basis for its eligibility pool of Adjunct Professors in IT areas. The COM's IT program is a fast-growing program in the Detroit metropolitan and surrounding areas. The position is open until filled.

 The COM is currently accepting applications for an adjunct pool in the following subjects:

  • Network and IT Security: Cybersecurity, Cryptography, Computer Network, Computer Forensics, Ethical Hacking, Network Security
  • Programming: Java, Python, R, Mobile Programming, Web Programming, etc.
  • Business Analytics: Big Data Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Mining, Statistical Modeling, Cloud Analytics with Azure or Watson, Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Information Visualization
  • Information Systems: Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP), Human Computer Interaction

Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool for the academic year of 2018-2019. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of an appointment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available for the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis including summer sessions, which will be based on the needs of that semester's schedule. 

Minimum Qualifications: Master in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university. Ph.D. is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:  Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field for graduate-level teaching; MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field for undergraduate-level teaching.

Teaching and working experience in IT areas is highly desired. Online teaching experience is desired.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator (part-time)

Lawrence Technological’s College of Business and Information Technology seeks to fill the position of part-time Marketing and Communications Coordinator

The primary responsibility of the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is to manage the College of Business and Information Technology's digital presence, which includes our official website, online channels and digital communications used as key marketing communications tools. This position requires extensive technical experience and expertise in website best practices and digital communication design and development.

Duties Include:

  • Assist with creating and updating marketing materials both digital and print as the college transitions its name
  • Design and production of both digital and print communications
  • Oversees College of Business and Information Technology website content updates and coordination of all web pages including planning, creating and implementing content design, while adhering to University web design standards and content management system
  • Work closely with the Office of Marketing and Public Affairs to ensure navigation and user interface functionality meets the needs of College of Business and Information Technology website visitors
  • Create new pages and content employing innovative ideas and solutions
  • Analyze the effectiveness of web pages, communications and strategies
  • Capture photos and videos that show the personality and vibrancy of the college
  • Proactively ensure website copy is current, and manages the web updating process by guiding and assisting content contributions from staff and by preparing and writing copy for web pages
  • Coordinate the collection of content and distribution of a monthly student newsletter
  • Coordinate the design and distribution of mass emails to specific groups of students as needed

Job Description:

  • Development of digital communications and digital communities
  • Produce original, creative solutions in line with the marketing strategy and design guidelines
  • Create content to build digital communities of prospective and current students of the College of Business and Information Technology
  • Develop creative materials for promotions, new projects, and media initiatives to ensure excellence and consistency in the design and visual identity of all digital communications
  • Express and maintain thorough understanding and appreciation of the new media landscape, including online tools and campaigns, consumer websites, web design, blogs, social networks and online community management
  • Recommend new media strategies that align with departmental goals and enhance existing programs
  • Align digital strategies and tactics with university and legislated standards, guidelines and policies
  • Work professionally and cooperatively with coworkers within the College of Business and Information Technology to build a collaborative and supportive work environment
  • Develop relationships and maintains a network with university colleagues involved with digital, web design, content strategies, and marketing and communications officers across campus

Minimal experience and skills required for this position:

  • Bachelor degree in web design, communication, art, design, marketing, or similar field
  • Minimum two years of experience in web, digital advertising and/or digital communications design in a business or higher education setting
  • Familiarity with a wide range of social media platforms, management tools and best practices
  • Knowledge of social media trends and experience using social media as a marketing tool
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including multimedia storytelling experience
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in marketing communications, print and electronic media, and strategic communications planning
  • Comprehensive understanding of best practices in information architecture, navigation, user interface, usability, accessibility standards and testing
  • Expert knowledge of social media trends, digital analytics tools and content maintenance for strategic digital communications
  • Extensive experience using web-based user interfaces to manage and maintain web content (e.g., web content management systems, social media accounts)
  • Familiarity with mobile marketing, banner advertising and email marketing

  • Experience with web site creation tools such as WordPress, Joomla, or Wix, or Weebly
  • The ability to create and distribute HTML email campaign
