Our students are actively engaged on campus and in the community, pioneering opportunities through internships and co-ops, and blazing trails in their career paths.
Lawrence Tech combines the benefits of a close, caring small college atmosphere with the academic depth and scope of a larger university. LTU takes a personal approach to education, and the University attracts students who have made some big plans for themselves. They are highly motivated students with at tremendous will to succeed, to excel, and to seek out the best in whatever they do. With a student to professor ratio of 11:1, and an average class size of only 14 students, students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty that combine top academic credentials and real-world experience. Qualified professors, not graduate assistants, teach your classes, discuss concepts and ideas in their lectures, and share information as they continue their work and applied research in industry. Your professors will provide you with the theory of how something works and drive the point home with practical applications that reveal the realities of the world of business and industry.
The earning power of an LTU bachelor's degree ranks in the highest 7 percent in the nation, according to the PayScale College Salary Report. This means that Lawrence Tech grads don't just find jobs after graduation - they tend to earn more during their careers than other college graduates. Within six months of graduating, 87% of LTU students have jobs in their field. Within our engineering disciplines, the job placement rate is 94%.
Most graduates attribute the University’s outstanding reputation as a major factor in getting a job. Our commitment to Lawrence Tech students does not end once you graduate. Campus job fairs and interviewing give recruiters a chance to personally meet students and graduates. Our convenient location allows students to interview between classes. Counseling in resume preparation, interviewing skills, and job search strategies are offered to all students and alumni. We also provide access to a Web-based system with options for students and alumni to post resumes online and review job postings.
Campus and Student Life
Even though Lawrence Tech's 107-acre campus is located in one of the busiest suburban cities in the Detroit metropolitan area, our attractive and serene campus is set apart from the urban hustle and bustle. Most visitors are pleasantly surprised to find park-like surroundings with expansive lawns and mature trees. We also have plenty of free parking in secure, lighted lots.
Our students are actively engaged on campus and in the community. Lawrence Tech is home to over 60 student organizations, 19 varsity National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) teams, club and intramural leagues, and spirit groups. Various professional and honor societies schedule activities and bring together students who have the same interests. Student Government at Lawrence Tech involves students at many levels, including the Student Senate, or as a member of a committee. Six fraternities and four sororities have chapters on campus. Greek organizations on campus aim to provide members with leadership, scholarship, friendship, and service opportunities. Greek life also provides an ongoing support system to help students achieve their personal and professional goals. There is something for every student at LTU. And the best part? If there is an organization you'd like to see on campus, our Student Engagement Office can help you set that up.
